What do you think of warm dark brown hair with some subtle red highlighting, very pale skin, and dark eyes?

I have everything except the hair. Right now it's medium brown with natural red highlighting. I'm thinking of dying it darker. Would that be too dark? What do you think of warm dark brown hair with some subtle red highlighting, very pale skin, and dark eyes?

How to lighten dark, dark brown hair with red highlights to a light, light brown?

I had my hair dyed and my natural hair color is a dark brown.

I asked them to dye my hair a light, light brown with no red

highlights. It came out almost black. I was upset so they redid my hair over by stripping the color out and then redying it one shade lighter. Now instead of it being black it's a dark brown but with red highlights. So I never got what I originally wanted which is a light, light brown. I also can't get it off my forehead and scalp. What color can I redye my hair myself over the counter later. Should I use cool or warm color? Is there a shampoo that can lighten this some also? How to lighten dark, dark brown hair with red highlights to a light, light brown?

try using a toner refiner, you should be able to buy it in any drugstore, maybe you should sue them Report Abuse

the only thing that will work is stripping out the colour then dying a light ash brown over top, or going to a decent hairdressers if you have the cash and get it all done again.

if you can wait - you could use a cheapish shampoo to help tone down the dark brown, as you say they stripped the colour out of your hair then applied the newer dark brown, theres a good chance this dark brown will fade drastically, because dye nearly always does over top of bleached hair! good luck with whatever you choose to do xxx
If it's a dark color the only way to strip it, unfortunately, is to bleach again. I know from experience. I died my hair black and went to have it professionally lightened and the stylist couldn't do it. Dye only coats the outside of the hair, so if you put light over dark, the darkest color will show through. Since you recently had it colored, it wouldn't be safe to do it again so soon, because your hair could break off. You could try complaining to the salon owner if what you got was not what you paid for, or call the better business bureau. One thing I've heard you can do at home is the buy Head%26amp;Shoulders shampoo. Put a ton of it straight from the bottle on your hair and leave it on for 20+ minutes. Do this several times. It's said to lighten dye. I tried it and got minimal results with black dye, but brown isn't as dark so it might strip more of the color. Good luck!
there is a phrase used in my industry that states ';colour will NOT lighten colour'; which means that any colour that is lighter than what you currently have will NOT work on your hair. you will need to bleach to the orange stage and then tone with a level 5 ash (blue based) colour. blue is opposite to orange on the colour spectrum so will neutralise the orange tones so you will end up with light neutral brown.
:O the hair dressers left the dye on your scalp? :\ not good well i have dark brown hair too and wanted blonde streaks, they looked good for a couple of days but when i washed my hair the blonde went to a really light brown and left my hair with gorgeous tones of light brown so that turned out to be really nice! go the hair dressers again and ask for blonde streaks trust me its better than any dye all over because when people offen ask for a light brown it goes too dark or looks just the same, =] hope it turns out ok ! x

How do I bring out my auburn-red highlights?

I have naturally brown hair, but lately a lot of auburn-red highlights have been showing up, and I really like them. I want to help bring them out without dyeing. Anyone know how?How do I bring out my auburn-red highlights?
There is an old fashion thing they use to call a glamour bath... go to a salon supply store';Sally's... get a 20 volume creme developer and mix it with you shampoo...1/8 of a cup... and let it set on you hair for 5 minutes... rinse, conditioner and you can do this as often til you get to the level you want... this is basically like being sun exposed...

hope this helps;-)))How do I bring out my auburn-red highlights?
Let lemon juice sit on the highlights then in 30-40 minutes wash it out and VOLA!

How can i dye my hair with red highlights that is homemade.?

How can i dye my hair with red highlights that is homemade. I dont want to buy hair dye since they do have some sort of chemicals. How can i dye my hair with red highlights that is homemade.?
Henna is the way to go. It is totally natural, and is actually good for your hair. How can i dye my hair with red highlights that is homemade.?
kool-aid
Jello
use kool-aid it smells nice and it's washable.
Try the red hairsprays that you can shampoo out. Those are pretty safe to use.
red koolaid....I have heard people trying that.....hydrogen peroxide will give you some highlights....as well as apple cider vinegar (will give highlights)
When i was in hs kids would use Kool-aid....but I would just use a regular box of haircolor if i were you...you probably wont like what you see by using something homemade.
Hi, I use red/auburn henna from the body shop (available elsewhere) for a completely natural way to dye your hair, it's also very good for your hair and gives great healthy shine and body. This is not highlights obviously it just blends in to the natural tones of your hair, i'd recommend a professional stylist for streaks etc, they do use natural dyes if you ask.
Henna or mehndi.

Any ways to keep the red highlights in your hair without them fading?

Just got burgendy highlights and its only been a week and they have faded a lot- could it be the shampoo Im using? My hair lost its shine too!Any ways to keep the red highlights in your hair without them fading?
there is nothing you can do to keep it completely from fading. If you use primer it also helps keep them in. And yes it does depend on your shampoo, you need nice shampoo and conditioner. it also depends on the quality of the hair dye. Bioterra is the shampoo I use for my hair. Any ways to keep the red highlights in your hair without them fading?
Yes, it could be the shampoo you are using.

Use a colour locking shampoo and conditioner duo, also use a colour lock mask once a week.

I recommend pantene pro v colour lock shampoo and conditioner, and i recommend garnier fructis colour lock hair mask. They both help your hair colour stay longer, and they will bring the shine back to your hair.

Another factor that contributes to colour fading is salt water, chlorine, and the sun. When you are out in the sun try to keep your hair covered OR like me, you could use a special heat protectant balm that has UV filters built in to protect your hair from both heated styling tools and the sun. Also, before you go swimming, soak your hair in fresh water. The fresh water fills up the hair folicle so that once you go in the water, your hair is already full so the salt water or chlorine cannot enter your hair folicle and damage it...it works just the same as a sponge, once you fill it up, no more water can enter it.

good luck =]
Well red is the most fading-est color. And some colors fade to red, before they lighten to orange and go away, as a weirder orange, to beigey or barely brown.

You needed to set it, or fix it with a fixative rinse after you got it colored.

Then use a colorfast shampoo, that retains and emphasizes all color, and is light on 'detergents' or soap.
i was dying my hair fire engine red for months.. and geez.. it fades so fast..

first of all.. wash your hair in cold water only.. this kind of sucks but it made my color last weeks longer..

like others said.. a good shampoo and conditioner is a must.. it needs to be color safe..

avoid straightening and drying your hair a lot.. heat makes it fade.. which is why hot water is bad..

get a good hair dye.. do you have a sally's shop near you? they sell dye that you have to mix up yourself.. it's better quality.. use a higher developer also.. i used a forty with mine.. but i have dark hair..

which by the way if you also have dark hair.. they make red dyes for darker hair.. those are nice.. like i said, sally's sells all this stuff..

the people that work the counter in there are also really great and can answer most of your questions.. they help a lot..

regardless though.. red is the smallest color molecule.. so it's going to fade.. you could bleach your hair out first to make the color more vivid.. but that's horrible for your hair..

don't leave conditioner sit on your hair either.. shampoo cleans the surface of your hair.. but conditioner goes into your hair so it kind of saps the color out.. that's what i was told at least.. i could be wrong..

anyways! i hope at least some of this helps you out..
you'd have to go to a beuty store / saloon were they

sell shampoo and conditioner. normally they

will have color treatment shampoo to not get faded which is caused

by sun/washing/heattreaments[striaghting].

its more expensive them normal shampoo but its

worth it.

Question about what kind of red highlights to get for my darkbrown-black natural hair color?

I need to get my hair highlighted tomorrow and I prefer a dark red shade on my natural head of darkbrown-black tint. I want it to look like a mahogany/auburn in the sunlight when I am out so it's shiny and dark red. Not sure if you have seen but Indian girls do get this shade of red done on their hair, it looks like henna but the highlights are a dark red. What shade of highlights is that exactly?Question about what kind of red highlights to get for my darkbrown-black natural hair color?
You can get those shades of highlight that you are looking for, by just using natural body art quality henna powder from a good source. It must be pure and you can do this all yourself. Check out longhaircareforum.com, as its a great ressource for information.

Doing henna on your hair will be the best !! Hope this helps

KhadijaQuestion about what kind of red highlights to get for my darkbrown-black natural hair color?
I know the look you are talking about and in my opion its quite beautiful.

The exact colour that you end up with depends largely on the exact colour of your hair, and if you have dyed your hair already or not.

I would recommend having it done at a salon. They will show you samples of different colours (on hair strands) so you can pick which shades you like the best, and then they will custom mix it depending on your existing colour etc to get the desired effect.

But if you wanted a cheaper way, you could talk to the cosmatician at the local pharmacy and get her opinion. It might not turn out quite as you imagined, but it would be a cheaper alternative.

Be careful with reds though, I would recommend using the special shampoos and conditioners designed for red hair. Red fades the quickest of all dyed colours, and could turn orangish or pinkish in no time if not taken care of properly.

Good luck!

I think it would look cool if you did it before the pictures but know that red highlites turn orange then like a caramel color over a period of time.
