How do you highlight dark hair without it turning red or orange?

i want to try this one at home highlighting kit. it's called clairol nice %26amp; easy frost %26amp; tip maximum blonde highlights and says that it should turn my hair blonde. but i'm scared that it might turn my hair an ugly orange color. my natural hair's a really dark brown, almost black.How do you highlight dark hair without it turning red or orange?
I don't know how strong the commercial highlight kit is because I use professional color in my salon. Most likely it will only lift you a few levels and your underlying pigment will be orange. Not easy to fix at home. get it done in a salon by a qualified colorist and there will be no regrets. If you try at home and then get it fixed in a salon it will cost double or triple then if you were to have gotten it done right the first time.
